About Sam

I'm Sam Sarahbi, PhD, a Psychology Professor and Personal Strategist.

I earned my PhD in Social Psychology and have taught psychology at Hamline University, St. Catherine University, Normandale Community College, and Rochester Community and Technical College.

As a Psychology Professor, I've spent years teaching people how to examine complicated questions, evaluate evidence, consider competing explanations, recognize assumptions, and resist conclusions the available information doesn't support.

That way of thinking isn't limited to the classroom. It's how I naturally approach problems.

Why Personal Strategy?

There are plenty of people willing to tell you what you should do.

That's not what interests me.

I'm more interested in asking good questions, examining the evidence, challenging assumptions, and looking for possibilities that may have been overlooked.

You bring your objective, priorities, experiences, and knowledge of your own circumstances.

I bring an outside perspective, structured investigation, and a practical way of examining the path forward.

You bring the objective. We investigate the path.

A Separate Consulting Practice

My Personal Strategy practice is separate from my academic employment.

I do not provide psychological services through this practice. Personal Strategy does not include psychological assessment, diagnosis, psychotherapy, mental-health counseling, or mental-health treatment.

If you're looking for someone to tell you who you are or what your life should look like, I'm not the right person.

If you're looking for someone to ask questions, challenge assumptions, examine the evidence with you, and help you investigate how to pursue what you're trying to accomplish, that's where I can help.
